Physicists at Carleton University are engaged in world class research in two distinct areas : Particle Physics and Medical Physics, one of the few universities in Canada to be doing so. Carleton is the lead institution of the new underground facility SNOLAB, which will provide a low background environment for the next generation of neutrino and particle-astrophysics experiments. On the Medical physics front, University faculty and students work closely with physicists at centres such as the Regional Cancer Centre, the National Research Council Canada, the Ottawa Hospital, and Health Canada. 2. Masters program in International Relations: Ranked 1st in Canada and 2nd in North America in a survey of 110 Canadian foreign affairs scholars published in Foreign Policy

Offered by the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs(NPSIA), the program is interdisciplinary, reflecting the philosophy that exposure to a range of disciplines is necessary to develop an understanding of our complex global environment. For over 40 years, NPSIA has been training Canada’s best and brightest graduate students in international affairs. They have well over 2,000 alumni, many of whom have gone on to key leadership positions in the Canadian federal and provincial public service, foreign governments, the United Nations, and the private and not-for-profit sectors.
